A rather thinly populated kiln this week. A bunch of tallish, slab vases on the top rear shelf, which left lots of air at the top. And not many tall pots anywhere, even in the normally thickly populated bottom shelf, which left similar amounts of air all through the stack. Pretty good firing, though, in spite of some bloating on some very thick red stoneware slabs and some thermoucouple shutdowns along the way. Gotta spend some time with a paperclip, reaming out the thermocouple burner, I think.
But there were some good pots in the kiln. Top to bottom: Slab vases with multiple additions and stamps, poured Shinos and ash glazes; tall slab vase with poured Shinos and ash glaze; three-footed slab plate with Shinos; three medium juice pitchers; multiple-Shinoed bowl.

I made some tall vases similar to yours, (not as nice) for a play I designed the set for, called The Goat, by Edward Albee. really weird play but the wife broke lots of art every night and these were the tallest things I could make at the time. She broke five a night for three weeks! I never ever want to make a tall cylinder vase again! But yours are lovely. The bowl in the last photo is the best though!!!!

Yes, Amy, it might have had a bit of ash sprinkled on after the second Shino was poured over it. I often do that. Difficult to tell from the photo.
oh wow. I love these. The vases are very lovely, graceful, eccentric. And thank you for posting the beautiful bowl...I feel so passionately about feet--and the infinite expression and creativity that can be explored while still employing the "right" balance, proportion, symmetry...something to do with authenticity maybe...elusive stuff. Anyway. Gorgeous bowl!
