My pots and the dragon emerge
There are a couple of minor things to tend to with Alex Urbina's dragon, but it's out of the kiln and looking pretty much like she expected, I think. She hasn't seen it yet, so I won't post a full photo, but I will give you a profile shot. I am probably more relieved than anyone that it survived the whole process.
And other than that, my own pots were rather quiet in this firing. Most of them glazed in a gray Shino or the Nuka that I am beginning to love.

Ack! The suspense! But I love the contrast of the red and grey...both on the dragon AND on those bowls/plates. One of those might have to come to my house.....
Oh man, I know that relief when you're firing pieces that were made by someone else... I fired a bunch of stuff as a favor for some 4-H kids once and I was biting my nails more over those than my own pieces!
Congrats on the dragon! It withstood the test of fire!
And your quiet pots look beautiful. Quiet sounds really good, a comforting way to have a nice, calm tea-time and celebrate simple beauty. Yea.

"Eear Be Dragons!" I hope you keep it well fed. 3 hourly feeds with a gourmet catfood is recommended at that young stage, and they do like a healthy addition of pepper on everything... the hotter the better!
Like you, I love Nuka. I used to make a fairly nice one a few years back after reading Phil Roger's Ash Glaze book. I didn't have any rice straw ash though... and don't know how much of a difference that would have made.
Hollis...I love the tea bowls. Hope to be on The Cape for a few days the end of this month...
Maybe I can stop in and purchase one of them.
Thanks, everyone. Anna, they're available. Patty, believe me, I was very happy when I saw the dragon was more or less in one piece. And Peter, I'm using hardwood ash in the Nuka recipe and it's doing just fine, though I'd like to try it with rice hull ash just to get a sense of what that's like. And Gail, call when you get to the Cape. Lots of teabowls around, including these three.
